The Northern Village of Green Lake is located at the Junction of Highway #55 and Highway #155 which is the main gateway to Northern Saskatchewan. Green Lake is the third oldest community in Saskatchewan, first established in 1782, and was the location of one of the earliest Hudson Bay Company Trading Posts. We have a population of approximately 500 and are predominantly a Metis community, rich in cultural history. Green Lake is four hours east of Edmonton, three hours north of Saskatoon, two hours from North Battleford and Prince Albert and 25 minutes northeast of Meadow Lake. The area is recognized for its prime recreation, fishing and hunting opportunities. There are four professional outfitters in Green Lake that provide lodging and hunting and recreational services. The lake itself is easily accessible, one of the deepest in the province, mercury free and provides for some of the greatest fishing around. Lake trout, jackfish, perch, whitefish and pickerel abound. The lake is connected to the Beaver and Cowan River system, which is also a hot fishing area.

The Northern Village of Green Lake is unique in that the Village itself owns a Sawmill (Green Lake Metis Wood Products Limited) and a Farm (Green Lake Metis Farms Limited). There is an excellent Kindergarten to Grade 9 School with approximately 160 students, community hall, hockey arena and a three sheet curling complex.
